Anders Cowper, Trip Leader 17-18

Hey, I’m Anders Cowper, and I’m an Earth Sciences major who used to be in Civil Engineering. I’m a Trip Leader with the club, so I’ll be organizing trips in both semesters to take people out into the wilderness! I grew up in St. Albert, Alberta, but still managed to have many a great mountain experience. With significant family history in outdoors exploration, I grew up hiking, scrambling, cross-country skiing and backcountry skiing from a young age. I raced cross-country skiing for about 12 years, and, in the process, was fortunate enough to travel to Norway twice for international training camps and to spend many a summer on the Haig Glacier in the Kananaskis region of the Alberta Rockies, as well as racing in many places across Canada.

This is my second year being a part of this club, and my first year as an executive member. The club has an awesome ability to draw in like-minded people encompassing everything from beginners to high-level adventurers, and all of these people contribute hugely to the culture we all share. I encourage all of you to get out there and join us on an adventure!
